What is Powder Horn?

Powder Horn is an Outdoor and High-Adventure resource management course designed to motivate and prepare adult and youth leaders to provide their unit with safe and correct Outdoor and High-Adventure Activities.  Courses are open to adult Venturing, Sea Scout and Boy Scout leaders, as well as youth members over the age of 16 (or 15 with a position of responsibility in Scouting).

This course will give all participants an opportunity to experience the many different Outdoor and High-Adventure activities.  It will also provide local resources necessary to successfully participate in Outdoor and High-Adventure activities in several ways, including:

• Help adult and youth leaders safely conduct outdoor activities of a FUN and challenging nature.

• Provide an introduction and exposure to the resources necessary to successfully lead a unit through an Outdoor and High-Adventure program.

• Familiarize Venturers, Scouts and Scouters with the various Scouting Outdoor and High-Adventure programs so that they can help their Scouts successfully meet their requirements (shooting sports awards, outdoors awards, sailing awards, etc.)
